Looks like Drake Drizzy just copped one of the best record deals any newcomer’s ever gotten. After a budding war amongst top labels in the game, Drake has reportedly signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money records. Drake has been kickin’ it with the Young Money boys ever since he hit the scene, but he didn’t officially sign with them because Cash Money/Young Money is known for doing some shady ish to their artists. But Drake turned down Atlantic’s $2 milli offer to wait for a better deal. And he got it. Reports state:

It was widely reported that Drake was offered 2 million from Atlantic Records but turned that down to figure out his options a little bit more. It was also rumored that there was tension between Wayne and Drake due to the fact that Drake would not sign with him. Well I am hearing that Drizzy wanted to sign with Wayne all along but was concerned due to the fact that Young Money is an offshoot of Cash Money and Cash Money has the worst reputation in the business for fucking artists out of their money and overall career. However my intel into this situation told me that Drake has certain guarantees such as album release dates in his contract and also the fact that Weezy doubled the amount he was being offered and gave Drake 4 million just to sign! This is what ultimately led Drake to stick with the Martian.

Glad somebody’s got a good business head on their shoulders in this industry…

It’s been confirmed that there will be a public viewing of Michael Jackson’s body at Neverland Ranch this Friday. It is open to the public. No other final funeral arrangements have been made just yet.

So at Sunday night’s BET Awards, Lil Wayne and Drake performed “Every Girl”.  Probably not the best decision as the REAL un-edited word say “I wish I could f*ck every girl in the world” in the chorus a million times.  And of course, that’s what the songs about.  So aside from BET’s bang up job of editing, Weezy brings out his pre-teen daughter Reginae and her BFFs to dance around the stage during the song.  If you were outraged like us, we weren’t the only ones.  Here’s what celebs on Twitter were saying:

“Overrall, the show was a big downer because… many things just seemed out of place. For example, Drake’s performance had Lil’ Wayne and his pre-teen daughter with other young girls on stage rapping along to “Every Girl in the World,” which is a song about having escapades with all the girls in the world.”

According to DailyFinance.com, VIBE MAGAZINE has folded:

“Vibe magazine, the urban-music magazine founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones, is the latest victim of the media recession. An assistant in the office of editor in chief Danyel Smith confirmed that the title is ceasing publication. No further information was immediately available. A call to Vibe Media CEO Steve Aaron went to voicemail.”

VIBE’s P.R. spokeswoman, Tracy Nguyen, said the Vibe staff was formally notified in a meeting at 2 p.m. and that she did not know how many people would be laid off as a result of the closure.

The legendary Apollo Theater will honor fallen icon Michael Jackson with a special series of events commemorating his life.
 
The first event begins on Tuesday (June 30).
 
The venue will host a public tribute allowing fans to hear DJs spinning Michael’s music, leave memorabilia, and write sympathy messages on a special mural wall located outside the property.
 
Reverend Al Sharpton will start the event with a eulogy at 2PM. Fans will be allowed access in 600-person cycles….(read more)

11:37p EST: Janet Jackson just took the stage.  Understandably shaken but still solid.  She’s speaking about her family’s love for their son and brother.  And how much pain the family is in.  She also thanks everyone for all their love they’ve shown.  “I’ll Be There” tribute taking place now with Ne-Yo, Jamie Foxx, and others…

11:05p EST: Usher’s reps just sent this statement regarding him not making it back in time for the BET Awards even though he was trying to:

“It is with regret that I am unable to participate in the BET Awards Tribute to Michael Jackson on June 28th. When the BET Awards producers and organizers reached out to me to participate in the tribute, I was extremely flattered and humbled by the opportunity to pay tribute to the world’s greatest musical icon. 11:00p EST: We’re trying to figure out why Lebron has his boys sitting next to him on the front row while his fiance/mother of his children Savannah is sitting a few rows behind him.  Congrats to him on winning Sports person of the year though…Diddy didn’t bring Assie to the event, but Dawn is sitting right next to him on the front row…We never want to hear Tiny or Toya speak again or promo their new show.  Ever.

Lil Wayne won an award and brought all of N.O. up there with him as usual.

Ne-Yo performed his own tribute to Mike with “The Lady In My Life.”
